Fresno Days - New Missionaries

March 4th, 2013

NYOB ZOO (Hello Family)!!!

Highlights of the week:

"Open your mouth"- This is the first day program for the incoming missionaries. As President Gelwix likes to say, "We herd them through like cattle" through the mission office filling out paper work and getting them prepped for the field. There's a lot of work that goes into missionaries. They have to get an emergency kit, get important documents copied, etc. Super busy. It takes a few hours to get it all done. But we also take them out to areas around Fresno to do their first tracting and street contacting. We go out a few hours and talk to everyone and just let them experience real missionary work. SUPER FUN!! They are so excited and pumped to go out. We had an opportunity to help take out incoming missionaries this last Wednesday and I had to tract regular (non-Hmong speaking) neighborhoods...really scary. They just aren't always very friendly. However, the Lord watched out for me and we had a lot of good/nice contacts.

Spiritual Thought:
"Do something now that will make the person you'll become tomorrow proud to have been the person you are today".
-Aunt Susan sent us this quote! (super awesome!)

When we choose the right today, we won't regret it! Let’s choose the right today! I'm putting this quote up on my wall!

Can't believe it’s March. One of our members might have their baby at the end of March so I’m gunnin' for the 25th.

I love you all so much!!!!!

Love,

Fresno Days - Still Sick

February 25th, 2013

So this week has been a little rough.  My companion, Elder Xiong has had a bad sore throat all week and we took him into the doctors and they don't know what he has, so they sent in some samples to a lab. He's been resting all week trying to get better and I've had a minor cough, fever, and sore throat as well. He's feeling a little bit better today, though.

One of our members passed away. He was a long-time member of the ward and two of his kids are on missions, so it’s very sad.

Also, President Gelwix assigned me to be a district leader so now there's even less time to do everything. Super stressful. Life goes on though.

Spiritual Thought:

This is from some movie where Martin Luther is about to go stand trial and one of his mentor monks is shaving his head in preparation to stand trial (Court of Inquisition) and said, "Look what you did. You have turned Protestants against Catholics."

Luther responds to the effect of: "You wanted me to change the world. Did you think there would be no cost?"

I think that if any of us want to do anything great with the short time we have in life, we have to pay the cost. We have to work for it. But we also must rely on God. By relying on Him, our efforts can be magnified and our work truly will bring about much good in the world. But are you willing to pay the cost?

Well, I love you all so much and hope everything is going well!!!!
LOVE,
ELDER TSEEM FWV LEEM Xai Yob VAJ!
